Rex Manaster, a respected Dallas, Texas, attorney, businessman, devoted father, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2026, just five days after celebrating his 58th birthday. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 13, 1968, he was raised in Austin, Texas, alongside his sisters, Dawn Manaster Levy and Kim Manaster Mitchell. News of his passing has brought sadness to family members, friends, and colleagues who valued his intelligence, humor, and loyalty.

Rex pursued his education at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree through the Honors Humanities program. He later attended Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he served on the SMU Law Review and earned his law degree in 1994. Throughout his professional life, he built a career as an independent attorney and businessman, bringing an analytical mind, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to connect with people from different walks of life to his work.

Beyond his legal career, Rex was remembered for his quick wit, curiosity, and genuine care for the people around him. Friends described him as fiercely loyal and someone who could offer humor, encouragement, or thoughtful advice when life became difficult. His friendships were an important part of his story, and many considered him more than a friend; he was family. The relationships he built over the years reflected the warmth and personality that made him memorable to those who knew him.

Above all, Rex treasured his role as a father to his children, Jude and Sadie, whom he described as the best thing that ever happened to him. He is survived by Jude Saul and Sadie Bliss Manaster, his soulmate Mika Chalk-Manaster, his mother Jane Manaster, his sisters and their families, and his lifelong best friend Ted Barac. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy James Manaster. His sudden passing leaves a profound absence for those who loved him, but the memories they shared and the love he gave his family will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

A memorial service and celebration of Rex’s life is scheduled for October 23, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El in Dallas. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested memorial donations to Shatterproof, an organization dedicated to addressing the addiction crisis. As family, friends, and colleagues come together to remember Rex, may they find comfort in one another and in the enduring memories of a devoted father, talented attorney, businessman, and loyal friend.
